Two ways to fight
Make as many words as you can using personal and community letters. Used letters refresh, and shared tiles can be claimed by your rival. Word points deal damage. A knockout can end the duel early.
Knocked down? Your next valid word gets you back on your feet and hits back.
Use exactly one personal letter in each word, together with community letters. Build power across four rounds. The highest total points wins with a final knockout punch; equal totals draw.
Stuck with a tricky letter? Burn it for zero points and keep the duel moving.
Inside the upcoming update
A fresh reason to return
Try a fresh Speed and Untimed challenge at midnight in your device’s timezone. Quick Duels are there whenever you want another match.
Finish Daily Duels on five dates for the weekly Collection. Win without word help on three dates for Champion. Playing both styles on one date counts as one day.
Earn 10 Sparks per completed scoring duel. Start with 25 and mix gloves, scarves, shoes and hats as you unlock them. Gear changes your look, never your scoring or difficulty.
Know before you play
Cosmetic fighter gear and optional word help: Better Word costs 25 Sparks and Best Word costs 75. Word help marks a duel assisted. Assisted Daily finishes count for Collection, but not Champion or Daily best. The Speed clock keeps running while you use help or browse the shop.
Both duel styles are free. Banners appear on Home, in the Sparks shop and on completed results. A full-screen ad opportunity occurs after every third completed non-practice duel. No ads appear on the active letter board. You may choose a rewarded video for 20 Sparks. A permanent ad-free purchase removes automatic banners and full-screen ads; voluntary rewarded videos remain available. Optional 250- and 1,000-Sparks packs and separate Studio board themes show Apple’s localized prices before purchase. No subscription is required.
Rivals are computer controlled, with names chosen for each duel. There is no online matchmaking or chat. Quick Duels begin gently for new players and adjust as you play; Daily challenges use fixed difficulty.
Progress, delivered Sparks and unlocked gear are stored on this device. Deleting the app removes them. Restore Purchases restores eligible permanent ad-free and Studio access, but does not recover delivered consumable Sparks, gear or deleted game progress.
The update uses a broad, bundled English dictionary from dwyl/english-words, including names, uncommon forms and some mature terms. Word lookup happens on your device. Dictionary details and credits are available in Settings.
